Wedding Anniversaries

A Wedding anniversary is a celebration of the anniversary of the day on which you were married. Married couples may like to mark their anniversary of their marriage in special ways. Couples may receive gifts appropriate for the year of their anniversary. In the Commonwealth, couples may receive a letter from the monarch for 60th, 65th, and 70th wedding anniversaries, and any anniversary following.  To receive your letter you must apply to Buckingham Palace in England, or to the Governor-General.   In Australia, couples may receive a letter of congratulations from the Governor-General on the 50th and all following wedding anniversaries.  The Prime Minister, local members of parliament, both state and federal, and Governors may also offer letters of congratulations for the equivelent wedding anniversaries.
